McLemore Cemetery

Description

McLemore Cemetery is Meridian’s oldest cemetery and includes the grave site of the city’s founder, Richard McLemore. Victims of the 1871 Race Riot and the 1878 yellow fever epidemic are also buried there.

The cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of 18 sites on the Meridian Civil Rights Trail.
