The Simmons-Wright Company/1884 Cafe

The Simmons-Wright Company was established in 1884. In its heyday, it served as a general store, gristmill, and cotton gin. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is still in business today. Open year-round 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. every 1st and 3rd Saturday. The 1884 Cafe opened in spring of 2012.

Directions: From Meridian, take interstate 59/20 east approximately 15 miles to Kewanee, take exit 169, turn right, and drive three-fourths of a mile. The store is on the left.
